Simon is an Associate at Signature’s London office, specialising in commercial disputes.

Simon has over five years of experience, primarily in fiduciary duties claims, banking and financial markets disputes, as well as civil fraud and asset tracing. He has recently been involved in appellate work and frequently advises on appellate procedures in the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. Drawing on his extensive experience working in other legal systems, Simon also provides practical insights on obtaining information in foreign jurisdictions, particularly in the United States.

Simon works primarily with high-net-worth individuals and financial institutions. He has particular experience with cases arising from the former Soviet Union and the Francophone world, and routinely works with Francophone and other non-English speaking clients who are litigating or contemplating litigation in the English Courts.

Prior to joining Signature’s London office, Simon was a trainee at Signature’s Paris office, where he was involved in the office’s major practice areas. His previous international experience includes a traineeship at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg, as well as positions in law firms in both France and the United States. Simon is called to the Washington State Bar and the Paris Bar and is also a Registered Foreign Lawyer with the SRA in England & Wales.

Simon is also a member of the American Bar Association, International Law Section and the International Law Section of the Washington State Bar. He is a native English speaker and is fluent in French.

  • Representing Renault in the NOx Diesel Emissions Group Litigation in London, proceedings of an unprecedented scale (with around 1.8 million claims issued against car manufacturers) and complexity. In an extensive liability ruling in July, the High Court rejected all claims against Renault.
  • Representing ultra HNW individuals in high-profile USD 1.5bn High Court proceedings against the estate of a late oligarch and associated entities concerning a partnership dispute. The case involved allegations of multi-jurisdictional fraud, complex offshore asset ownership structures and parallel court proceedings globally.
  • Representing partners in a UK private equity firm, along with associated global entities, in a Commercial Court claim alleging diversion of the business opportunity to conduct an asset recovery process on behalf of the Family and Estate of the late Badri Patarkatsishvili, a Georgian billionaire. The claim is valued in excess of USD 100m.
  • Representing a global producer and supplier of iron ore products in a USD 60m contractual dispute with a global steel manufacturing company arising out of a supply agreement. The case concerned the applicability of contractual force majeure provisions in the context of economic sanctions.
  • Representing a leading investment bank in High Court litigation with the value of claim c.GBP 50m arising out of allegations of the bank’s improper conduct in a distressed property finance lending arrangements with a real estate business.
  • Representing a European investment fund in a USD 20m claim against a major Asian industrial group relating to convertible bonds.
  • Representing two HNW individuals in a dispute for over USD 10m against several global financial advisory companies and intermediaries in relation to a failed real estate project in Africa. The claims involve breaches under the FSMA.
  • Representing a global technology and manufacturing company in expert proceedings initiated by a French business aviation company in a dispute arising from allegations of misdiagnosis following the repair and replacement of aircraft engines.
  • Acting for an investment advisory company in relation to a contractual interpretation dispute arising out of a success fee.
